School Board Election Update

Dear Burbank SD 111 Families & Staff:

We are pleased to announce the winners of the April 1, 2025 school board election. Congratulations to Gregory Komperda, Agnieszka Dabrowski, John Schuetz, and Jeniz Greene who have been elected to serve a four-year term. The board members elect will take the oath of office and the board will reorganize during the regular board of education meeting on Wednesday, April 23.

Stickney Township Offers Pre-School and Summer Programs

Stickney Township Youth Commission offers Summer Programs for children age 3-8 and Preschool for children age 3 and 4 in the fall. Programs are available to residents of Stickney Township.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Preschool Screening

District 111 provides development screenings for children ages 3 and 4 living within the boundaries of Burbank, Illinois. Developmental screenings typically assess a child's skill in areas such as language, motor development, self-help and emotional development. If a child is identified as a risk, further evaluation and support may be recommended. The next preschool screening will be held at McCord Early Learning Center on May 21, 2025.

2025-2026 PASS Registration

Registration for returning PASS families will open online - end of May. Registration for new PASS families will open online - end of July.

We Are Home of a 2025 Those Who Excel Awardee

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced the over 500 Illinoisans honored for their extraordinary contributions to education across the state through its annual Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. The awardees announced today include Burbank School District’s Sarah Nesci, Teacher at Kennedy School!

Liberty Student Competes at ISC Scripps Regional Spelling Bee Championship

In December, students in grades 3-8 in West, North, and South Cook County schools participate in Spelling Bee competitions. Approximately 100,000 spellers compete to become the school, district, and regional champion! Our Liberty Junior High student, Kirsten, has achieved the regional title for two consecutive years!
